Artist Young-jun Tak is showcasing video Love at First Sight on Monday (2024) at 24th SongEun Art Award Exhibition

17 December 2024

Heartfelt congratulations to Young-jun Tak for being part of the 24th SONGEUN Art Award Exhibition at SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation. Tak will premiere a new video work Love at First Sight on Monday (2024), which is the third piece in his on-going choreographic film series.

Inspired by acclaimed author Lars Mytting’s romantic novel The Bell in the Lake (2019), originally titled The Sister Bells in Norwegian, the film explores and reimagines the orally told love stories through choreography. Intricately interwoven with themes such as narrative and memory, the film begins in a 12th-century Norwegian stave church with solo performances by two late teenage female dancers, each reflecting on their parents’ love stories — and gradually evolving into a duet featuring two male dancers composing choreography in a retired jumbo passenger plane, creating a dialogue between the two settings as they intersect in various phases.
