Exhibitions this month take a surreal turn, as galleries and museums explore themes of extraterrestrial beings, shifting forms and phantom feelings. PODIUM is proud to present Phantom(‘s) Presence, Rotterdam-based Japanese artist Shimon Kamada’s first solo presentation with the gallery and in his career. Drawing from photo archives spanning his childhood and teenage years in Japan, Kamada assembles images that drift between memory and invention. Hometown streets, domestic interiors and surreal landscapes are rendered in skewed light and shadow, creating a mood of quiet unease. The result is a series of enigmatic scenes that linger between the familiar and the dreamlike, probing the fragile and elusive nature of remembrance.
