Biography
Anastasia Komar (b. 1986, lives and works in New York) references science, theology, and history, juxtaposing acrylic painting executed in short, vivid, and luminescent brushstrokes with advanced polymer sculptures that echo forms at once biomolecular, mythological, and mammalian. Her solo exhibitions include Shulamit Nazarian, Los Angeles (2024), BANK, Shanghai (2023), and Management, New York (2022). She has participated in group exhibitions at Swivel Gallery, New York (2024), Kristen Lorello & Van Doren Waxter, New York (2023), Harper's in East Hampton, New York (2023), the gallery of the School of Visual Arts, New York (2021), and CICA Museum, Gimpo (2020). Her works can be found in the Zabludowicz Collection, London, and the START Museum, Shanghai. She received her MA in Architecture and Environmental Design from Moscow Institute of Architecture.
