Biography
Exploring queer ecology and the nuanced intersections of sexuality and material culture, Dae Uk Kim (b. 1991, lives and works in Eindhoven) interlaces silicone, artificial hair, and other idiosyncratic materials to create sculptural installations that characterise diverse masculine archetypes, envisaging the rhizomatic connections between individuals beyond the restraints of lineage and social construct. Kim had group exhibitions at Stedelijk Museum, Schiedam (2024); Project Mokyoktang/Space Tapdong One, Jeju (2024); Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2024); Room57 Gallery, New York (2024); Hyundai Motor Studio, Busan (2024); Museum of Young Art, Oosterhout (2023); Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam (2021 & 2022); among others. His work was collected by the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam.
