Hannah Woo
Biography
Hannah Woo (b.1988, lives and works in Seoul) manipulates the fluidity and malleability of textiles to create soft sculptures that echo forms of the mythological, flora, and fauna. Painstakingly woven and entwined, the fabric works implicate the socio-political dynamics of labour and visualise the indiscernible yet often violent forces inflicted on the body. She has held her solo exhibitions at G Gallery, London (2023), Art Space BOAN, Seoul (2023), Art&Choi’s, Seoul (2021), and Song Eun Art Cube, Seoul (2020). Her recent group exhibitions were at the Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul (2022), Insa Art Space, Seoul (2020), Tsutaya Bookstore, Kyoto (2021), and Daejeon Museum of Art, Daejeon (2020). Woo is the winner of Frieze Seoul’s inaugural Artist Award in 2023. Her works are collected by Kadist, Art Sonje and SeMA. She received her BFA and MFA from the Korea National University of Arts’ Department of Visual Art, Seoul.
