Biography
The abstract experiments of Sihan Guo (b. 2000 in Shanghai, lives and works in Shanghai and New York) construct a landscape of techno-Gnostic fantasy. Evoking the idea of disintegration, absence, and self-erasure, the swirling, stem-like textures of the drips in her paintings echo Deleuze’s theory of the Rhizome, suggesting unregulated flows of energy across a rimless, de-centered structure of reality. Through her laborious treatments of surfaces and paint sculpting process, the vessel-like, weblike, synaptic backdrop of dissolving landscapes orient towards a post-human, post-subject, and collapsed vision of space, enthralling the viewers with the enigmatic liminality of presence and absence, reality and virtuality. Her solo exhibitions include Cassina Projects, Milan (upcoming 2025) and Commons Gallery at New York University, New York (2022). She also participated in group exhibitions including Public Gallery, London (2025), Alexander Berggruen, New York (2024), L21 Home, Palma (2024), Galleria Pedro Cera, Lisbon (2024), Third Street Gallery, Shanghai (2024), NARS Foundation, New York (2023), and Chambers Fine Art, Salt Point (2023), among others.
