Biography
The practice of Yein Lee (b. 1988 in Seoul, lives and works in Vienna) spans sculpture, installation, painting, and performance, depicting the body in fragmented forms and radical transitoriness. By repurposing industrial materials and interweaving elements of technology and physical organisms, her works investigate the social and ecological collapse, reverberating the voices of the otherness through the bodies in crisis. Her solo and duo exhibitions include Con Gallery, Tokyo (2025), school, Vienna (2023), Center of Contemporary Art, Trnava (2022), Loggia, Munich (2022), Final Hot Desert, Salt Lake City (2022), and Le Box, Toulouse (2021). She also participated in group exhibitions including the 15th Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju (2024), CALM-La meute art center, Lausanne (2024), Château - Centre d’Art Contemporain de la Ville d’Aubenas, Aubenas (2024), Kunstverein Göttingen, Göttingen (2023), Kunstraum Schwaz, Schwaz (2023), Palazzo San Giuseppe, Polignano a Mare (2023), Schinkel Pavillon, Berlin (2022), Scherben, Berlin (2022), Belvedere 21, Vienna (2022), UA26, Vienna (2021 & 2022), Centre Culturel Suisse, Paris (2021), Kunstraum Niederoesterreich, Vienna (2020), Das Weisse Haus, Vienna (2020), Haus Wien, Vienna (2020), amongst others.
