Artist Diane Severin Nguyen is featured in Spike Art Magazine Issue 83!
In the article ‘THE NEW DELICIOUS’, Aodhan Madden describes Diane’s works as “particular aesthetic of abstract body horror: not only does flesh become plastic, waste become form, or blood become ornamental, but the very categories that we use to define and discipline the body – natural or synthetic, functional or decorative, toxic or pure – are opened up like wounds.”
Interested in exceeding photography as a mode of documentation, Diane approaches the photographic moment as one of transformation, and engages with it rather as a set of conditions shaped by desire and speculation. Her photographic works Thirst for Love (2024), For me, years (2023), and Directions for Decomposition (2023) are currently on view in ‘Aftershock’, on view until 24 May 2025.
